ZFor the first time component and system manufactures will meet at the “all about automation” fair, a regional fair for industry automation, in Dortmund (Westfalenhallen). Among the exhibitors with a focus on measurement and control technology as well as sensors and vision also includes the DIAS Infrared GmbH. As a specialist in non-contact temperature measurement, the company with headquarters in Dresden, will inform on new developments and solutions for temperature measurement in the manufacturing and process automation in various industries.

Common applications for the non-contact temperature measurement are among others in very fast process sequences, with moving objects, very small spot sizes or the necessary representation of temperature profiles. For example process conditions such as extremely high temperatures up to 3000 °C, aggressive materials, electromagnetic fields, inaccessible measuring objects or measurements in a protected atmosphere such as gas can be mastered with the non-contact temperature recording by DIAS technology.

Under the heading “Non-contact temperature measurements in manufacturing and automation technology,” Dr. Christian Schiewe, Project Manager System solutions, presents in particular the interface solutions of DIAS. The pyrometers, designed and manufactured by DIAS, can be implemented directly in the plant control system via analog or digital interfaces variants such as RS-485, Profibus, Profinet. The various interface solutions according to practice-related application scenarios are explained in the presentation. The advantage of digital RS-485 interface is support of the Modbus RTU protocol, which is standard in industrial communication. The open, royalty-free protocol also allows a very deep integration of measurement technology directly by the customer. By means of Modbus, a Master such as a PC or a PLC can be networked with a plurality of temperature measuring devices. The implementation of the Modbus interface allows even a low-cost connectivity to all existing field buses such as Profibus, Profinet, CAN or EtherCAT with simple Gateways.

Other topics of the presentation are DIAS infrared camera systems for manufacturing control in steel mills and induction heating. The talk takes place on March 11th, 2015 at 2 p.m. in the “Talk Lounge” (hall 8, booth 122).
